From volume to material

Colour is first read through form.

The pieces remain in their authentic setting among brick, timber and plants. The photography then moves closer until the setting disappears and the skin of each earthenware body fills the frame.

The true palette

Seven colours, from raw body to glaze.

Each medallion places the raw clay body beside the same glazed surface. The embossed R&B mark, natural light and workshop timber are preserved exactly as photographed, allowing the colours to speak without artifice.

These close-ups are direct crops from the original photographs: no colour or texture has been reconstructed. Only the throwing marks and the meeting of matte and glazed surfaces remain.

The restored reference

FA240. Red returns to its place.

Photographed at the centre of the range, Beck Red can now be read as it should: a warm, lively brick shade that retains the full presence of the clay body.

One piece brings matte and glazed surfaces together to reveal the true depth of the colour.

Plants, brickwork, the chimney and workshop tables create a natural frame. These new views complement the photographs already preserved in the R&B image library.
