One family. Two ways to work.

Series 221
takes a new form.

Closely related to the GE221 plastic clay formula, CO221 is prepared in liquid form for casting. Two products within the same white stoneware family, each with its own working methods and technical data.

GE221 01

The plastic clay body

GE221 is worked on the wheel, by handbuilding or in sculpture, depending on the preparation chosen. The five GE221 preparations are: LISSE, IMP, CHF, CENDRÉ and PYRITÉ.

CO221 02

The casting slip

CO221 is a liquid clay body for slip casting. Wet-ground, sieved and then deflocculated, it is packed in 10 kg buckets and has its own technical sheet.

Prepared in Saon

From the mill
to the bucket.

Careful preparation of the material remains central to our process. CO221 stays in liquid form through to packing.

  1. 01

    Wet grinding

The clays are worked with water in our pebble mills to prepare the slip.

  2. 02

    Sieving

After leaving the mills, the slip is sieved before the next preparation stage.

  3. 03

    Deflocculation

A deflocculant is added to prepare the slip for casting. A casting trial has been carried out at the workshop.

  4. 04

    Packing

CO221 is packed in 10 kg buckets, identified with its own reference.

Your questions

Before your
first casting.

How does CO221 differ from GE221?

GE221 refers to the plastic clay bodies in Series 221. CO221 is a liquid casting slip with a closely related formula. Always use the documents and working parameters for the reference you have chosen.

How is CO221 supplied?

CO221 is packed in 10 kg buckets. Ask our team or your retailer about availability and ordering.

Do I need to add a deflocculant?

CO221 is already deflocculated at the workshop. If an adjustment is needed for your working conditions, ask our team for advice before making any addition.

How should I choose my firing cycle?

The label indicates 960–980°C for the first firing and 1000–1280°C for the second. Test your pieces and glazes before starting a production batch. Our team can help you work through your requirements.

Where can I find a price and check availability?

Our retail network can advise on prices, quantities and delivery. For the new CO221 casting slip, contact us if you need help finding the right person to speak to.
